Success Coaching

Doesn't it feel wonderful when you get a new client!?

I remember early in my coaching business career getting a few new clients in a row and feeling like ...

THE KING OF THE WORLD!

Until...

One of my clients wanted to stop coaching with me. In the moment I felt OK, but later I started to feel awful. I wondered if I did something wrong, and I started to doubt myself, my abilities as a coach, and if coaching itself was really that valuable.

Of course, my mind was jumping to all sorts of conclusions. I knew logically that my client leaving was about my client and not about me. Or was it?

But the worst part of this whole situation was just beginning.

I started enrolling LESS clients into coaching with me and then I started to worry if other clients were going to stick around or drop out too. I am sure it also had an impact on the quality of my coaching because I was afraid to challenge my clients or call them on their stuff because I didn't want to do anything that might make them want to quit our coaching. And worse...

I started worrying about making enough money to pay my mortgage and even fell behind on my payments. Then I started to worry even more about my clients staying or leaving.

I almost gave up my coaching business and on my worst day I started thinking about getting a mindless job as a garbage man (I was feeling very tired mentally)!

I started getting more clients again, making more money, keeping them longer, and feeling "stronger" while coaching my clients.

Enroll clients into 6 months or 1 year of coaching right up front! Why?

Because people very rarely get huge results from 1 to 3 months of coaching. The power of coaching is cumulative, meaning that the longer the client is coached, the better the results they will see.

This locks up more reliable income for you (and helps take the financial pressure off), AND it helps clients reap the best rewards that coaching has to offer.

Get them to stick around long enough to see how much coaching helps. Sure there are some areas (like coaching singles to find a mate) that might make sense to enroll for less time (say 4 months at a time), but for the most part sign people up for longer periods of time.

Most people will say yes if you offer them a chance to opt out after they try it for the first month I actually recommend giving a money back guarantee for the first month. Why? It makes people feel safer with the idea of trying out working with you.

Bottom Line: Nothing increases your confidence more than watching your clients succeed!

Keep them around long enough to get "before and after" law of success stories!
